EndWar demo reviewed!

Did you download it? I'm guessing the answer is "no". I'm talking about the EndWar demo, of course. Just in case you've dismissed this game as "another rubbish attempt at bringing RTS to the 360", I'm here to tell you otherwise.

So what makes EndWar special? Well, the main reason is that you can play the whole game by using the headset! Even though you look like a complete idiot, who cares when you're playing something this fun! After Spencer's sad tale of when him and his friend attempted to play SOCOM on PS2 using the headset, I have to admit I had my doubts about EndWar. But luckily, the demo helped to destroy my worries and realise how much of a masterpiece the game is!

Even if you don't have a headset (goddamn you!), the control scheme is still probably the best of any of the strategy games I have played on the 360. There really isn't anything to it. All you need to do is press ">" on the D-pad and it brings up what you what you want to do. You go to what you want to do and press right again. Same thing again, and keep repeating until you have finished your sentence. So for example, you might say >Unit>5>Attack>Hostile>2, and then Unit 5 would do that. If this sounds complicated then it's my fault, because after about 5 minutes of playing it gets loads easier!

Anyway, if you were to use a headset (which is highly recommended) then you would simply hold down the right trigger and say "Unit 5 attack hostile 2". Easy as that! There were a few occasions where the headset wouldn't pick up what I said correctly, but it was probably my fault for not speaking clearly. If you listen to the podcast then you'll understand what I mean!

To finish off, I must mention how cinematic the game felt. The graphics are honestly some of the best I have ever seen, and the way you can zip from unit to unit is amazing. If you're following the progress of a squad of riflemen, you'll fly down to ground level, almost as if you were playing a third-person shooter. And if you're watching a helicopter fly over the battlefield you could be forgiven for thinking that you were playing Ace Combat or something along the same lines!

So what are you waiting for? Go and download the demo now, and hopefully you'll think the same! Remember to leave your opinion below!
